Butterfly Class have had a great time being back at Nursery and we have also welcomed our new friends that began in January.
We have enjoyed weekly trips to the Nature Garden, where we explore the natural world around us.
Here are some of the highlights.
On Monday mornings, Butterfly Class go to the top hall for our PE sessions. The children participate in lots of fun ring game activities which involve following instructions and using their listening skills. Here are the children in action.
This week the children have been learning about Chinese New Year. We have learnt that each year represents an animal and this year is the year of the 'Tiger'. The children have enjoyed carrying out many activities in relation to the celebration including making lanterns and new year cards.
Friday 4th February was NSPCC Number Day, where the children took part in fun filled day filled with lots of number activities and games while raising money for charity. The children also came to school dressed in creative number outfits. In Butterfly Class, we decided to make number crowns where the children had the opportunity to practice writing their numbers.
This term Butterfly Class have re-started their weekly music workshops where the children sing songs and play musical instruments. The children really enjoyed participating in the activities. Here are the highlights.
In Butterfly Class we have been practising using our gross motor skills to make various marks. We carried out an activity called "The Big Mark" where the children used different mark making equipment including chalk, brushes, squirt bottles and coloured water to make large marks in the outdoor area.
This half-term Butterfly Class began Forest School in the Nature Garden. The children really enjoyed participating in various activities, including making paint brushes with nature and mark making with coloured water.
Butterfly Class enjoyed joining in with the annual World Book Day celebrations. As a part of the activities, we read and shared our favourite books. 4JB and 4KL also came to read and share some books with the children. It was a fun-filled day!
This week the children went on a Spring Hunt in the Nature Garden to look for signs of spring. The children teamed up in small groups and went hunting to see what they could find. The children found daffodils, green leaves as well as many other spring seasonal objects.
This week Early Years held our termly Celebration Day with our theme this term being Maths. The children were provided with exciting and engaging maths activities to carry out with their adults in both the classroom and the outdoor area. It was a fun morning!
For Comic Relief this year, the children dressed up as their favourite Superhero or Local Hero, the children had a great day. We also spoke about the purpose of giving help and raising money for those who don't have much.
This week we have had a fantastic final week in Nursery. We have been learning all about Easter and the new life that begins at this time of the year. We have made some lovely Easter egg cards, bunny ear Easter bonnets and delicious chocolate nests. We also had an amazing time going on Easter egg hunt in the Nature Garden. This week the children have been learning about the 'Life Cycle of a Frog'. We have learnt about the different stages that frog passes through during it's life. The children enjoyed making frogs using creative materials.
This week, Nursery went on a Scavenger Hunt in the Nature Garden. The children had lots of fun looking for different types of nature in the environment. The children were given a tick list and pens to highlight all the the things they found around them.
This week, we have been reading the story of 'The Bad Tempered Ladybird'. We have carried out many creative activities around this story including making ladybirds out of egg cartons and decorating biscuits with coloured icing to make ladybird biscuits.
This week Nursery went on a trip to Brockwell Park Greenhouses. The children participated in a workshop where they hunted for minibeasts and made minibeasts out of plasticine. After the workshop, we headed to the Adventure Playground for lunch and had a wonderful time playing on the equipment in the playground. It was a fun day!
This week in Butterfly Class, we have been reading the story 'Belle and the Giant', which tells the story of the importance of looking after the flowers and our environment so that the bees can eat and live happily. We carried many activities surrounded bees including making bees with our hand prints and making honey sandwiches.
We had an amazing week celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee! We carried out many fun activities, including making crowns, writing letters to the Queen and making Union Jack flags. We crowned the week by having a Tea Party with lots of food and music. Here are the highlights of our super fun week!
This week, we have been preparing for our upcoming Carnival celebration. The children enjoyed making shakers, hats and our very own banner displaying our individual identities.
This week, we have been learning about the various ways we can keep healthy. We enjoyed a series of different activities including exercises, tasting healthy food and learning about how to care for our teeth.
Nursery enjoyed Sports Day 2022! It was a fun packed day filled with lots activities. Here are the children in action!
Butterfly Class ended the year with a fun-filled party. There was lots of yummy food, games and dancing. We hope you have a wonderful Summer Holidays and we wish you all the best for the new academic year.
